Take card payments (Stripe)

Customers pay by card with your own Stripe account, and the money goes straight to you. You need a Stripe account (stripe.com) and card payments on your page. The Stripe dialog has three steps, in the order Stripe asks for things.

  1. Open Sales › Settings. How your customers pay starts with Card, online: it says Not connected, or Connected · Test / Connected · Live with your Stripe account. Tap Set up (or Edit setup).

  2. 1. Your Stripe keys. Tap Open the keys in Stripe: in Stripe › Developers › API keys, copy the Publishable key (it starts with pk_) and the Secret key (it starts with sk_) and paste them in the dialog.

  3. 2. The payment notice (webhook). This is how Stripe tells us about each payment. Tap Open webhooks in Stripe and add a destination with the Endpoint and the Events the dialog shows (tap Copy on each). Stripe then shows its signing secret (it starts with whsec_): paste it in Webhook signing secret.

  4. 3. Test or Live. Test uses your Stripe test keys and fake cards; Live charges real cards. The keys must match the mode you pick. Tap Save keys, then Test connection.

  5. While you are In test, customers already see Card, but Stripe takes test cards only: switch to Live when you want to take real payments. A customer who pays by card places an order that is already paid and confirmed.
